Next Knit projects

I have made 3 triangle shawls in a KNIT pattern. YAY!

One is in Real Teal a special Christmas present- and one is striped in Black- gray and white for me. I rarely make anyhing for myself- but I wanted a knit triangle shawl- I found instructions to do a yarn over increase at Knit-Picky patterns and voila' I was able to knit a triangle shawl. The pattern was from Lion Brand yarns site. Its all garter stitch- I wore my shawl and it kept me warm all day at work.

Pumpkin Pancakes

I am so ready for Fall- we went to our favorite local Pumpkin Patch yesterday -Phillips Farms in Lodi, CA.
The grandkids had fun, Grandma had fun and we supported a local agribusiness.
This morning I wanted pumpkin pancakes- So I used a pancake mix, added a generous 1/4 cup of canned pumpkin and a shake of cinnamon and a pinch of cloves.
With a little syrup- yummy!
And since I opened the can of pumpkin I made a batch of fat free whole wheat pumpkin muffins. Yes, I had to do a taste test- also yummy!
I used a recipe found on Allrecipes.com, but I used applesauce instead of oil, and only a 1/2 C of splenda baking blend instead of 11/2 cups of sugar. They are sweet enough with the pumpkin and applesauce. Happy Fall y'all!

October update

I've been on vacation this past week which explains how I had the time to make 15Halloween treat boxes. But we've also made arrangements to have our home insulated YAY! We contacted Ashlock Energy in Stockton- they came out and gave us an estimate that fits our budget and they'll be here next Wednesday to do the work. Just in time for cooler weather here in the Central Valley.

Halloween Treat Boxes

I just love Halloween; I know it has it's darker side. But dressing up and pretending and asking for treats- what more can a kid ask for?!
Here are treat boxes I made for my team at work 15 of them.
I used the Fry box template with various Halloween themed cardstock and decorated with images from Graphics Fairy, dover publishing and others. I used paper glaze for the charms on the fronts and crafters floss to hold them:

I'll be filling the boxes with treats; I'm sure the team will enjoy them.

Cards

Wow- it's been a while since my last post. I have been making cards- just didn't take time to post them.
Well here they are -Birthday card for my sister- using a coffe ATC I recieved in a trade a couple years ago. The coffee cup flips up -too cute and my sis loves her coffee.

My bro in law likes orioles( so my sister told me) I found this pic on GraphicsFairy- as well as the nest. The record card is from Creative delights. Denim scrap is the ribbon and tie for the twigs.

Oranges courtesy of Graphics Fairy for my husbands Aunt- I used diamond glaze on the bowl- it doesn't show up here though.

A get well card for a co worker using the other halves of the orange papers. Did I say I LOVE orange?
I made a petal card but didn't get it scanned- I'll have to make another to scan. It was way cool.

My First Knitted Project

I started small on this one- a dishcloth about 10"x10" square.
We were on vacation in Yerington NV and I needed something for evenings in the motel room- I don't like the casinos- too much smoke.
I found the knitting needles and cotton yarn at the Ace Hardware on Goldfield Ave. I pulled it out a couple of times because I knitted when I should have purled. But I finished it and here it is.
Now I've started a simple sleeveless shell. Not sure how long that will take-

Happy Independence Day!

Hapopy Birthday America-
We're going to a barbecue later today, I'm bringing a side dish of zucchini corn salad.
I looked at a few recipes but came up with this tailored to my taste.
Jeanne's zucchini corn salad
4 small zucchini diced
1/2 sweet onion
1 red bell pepper
1 c sweet corn
salt
pepper
olive oil
21/2 T vinegar
Fire roast the bell pepper and peel the skin after it cools. Dice and place in bowl. Dice the onion and caremelize in a little olive oil. Put in bowl with the red pepper. Cook the diced zucchini in the same pan, I did it in 2 batches so it browned well- and made sure it was dry before entering the pan. Place in bowl when done. Add the corn to the pan and cook for 1-2 minutes. pour into the bowl. Add salt and pepper to taste, pour in the vinegar, toss and chill.
Have a safe and sane 4th!

Embellished T-shirt number 2

I've been seeing the return of the white peasant skirt at work and wanted one too- we went to a discount store and found one for $9.99. Not a bad price so I bought one and a white t-shirt to go with it. The shirt was a little plain so I used an old white t-shirt and my cuttle bug to make this one.

I used the Peony die to cut 3 sizes- they were double layer to make it quicker I sewed them together and used 2-4 white beads in the centers, then appliqued them to the shirt, I can't wait to wear it next week.

ABCSC11

I made another ABC page today- Gift.
I liked the verses Patter chose; and I enjoyed poring through God's word to find more gifts. I've had the polka dots for a long time- and it was a little short at the lower corner, so I added the red accent piece. I just recently purchased the gift box stamp, and I made the digital stamp of the gift with the Romans verse.

Goodbye card

Our Claims operations director is moving to Georgia- her last day is next Friday.
I made this card for her. The robin and the nest images are from Graphics Fairy. The journal oval from Creative delights, I tinted the flowers and added ribbon and stickles.

my first embellished Tshirt

My husband took me clothes shopping and I saw a gorgeous T shirt; apricot colored with gauzy flowers and ribbons embellishing it.$30 dollars- way more that I wanted to spend on a bit of thin cotton jersey. So I found a few Tshirts for 6.99 and here's my first try at making my own decorated clothes.

I plan to wear it to my nephew's baby shower tomorrow.

ABC SC11

I made another scripture card for Patter's ABC Scripture challenge- E is for Easy.
the journal block and tag are from Peppermint creative; the yoke from Clipart ETC, a great site. I had read in a novel that when the Romans conquered a town they made the people walk under a raised yoke, indicating that they were under the Romans rule. That I have passed under the yoke of my Lord Jesus; I am under His control and  He has complete authority over me is a wonderful and awesome thing. Thanks Patter for a great way to combine crafting and proclaiming Christ at work in me.

Crocheted baby blankets

I finished my 3rd baby blanket this week; they are all for co workers.
The first is a ripple pattern for a young man at work whose wife is expecting their first baby in April. I call it April Showers. Blue, gray and white for a little boy.
The next one is in  V- stitch, for a coworker having a girl.
I call it Baby Sherbet- Pink, peach and white -yum

Last Baby Neapolitan again using V stitch with a shell border for a first grandbaby of a coworker.

I enjoy the V stitch it goes quickly, I just heard yesterday that my nephew's wife is having  baby- gender will be a surprise- so I guess I will be making another blanket soon.

Little sewing project

I saw some dish towels in a store that were white with a red fabric band sewn on them- they wanted more that I wanted to pay, so I dragged out my sewing machine and made my own. Now doing dishes is nicer.

They're Here!

My vintage office stamp set arrived today~ I can hardly wait to use them! But I wanted to post a photo first.
The white rectangle in the pic is a stamp pad; the label is white so it reflected my flash. There is a typewriter, a large paper clip, a telephone, RUSH! ,THANKS, an address label and a pointing hand. Oh- and a Handle with Care label.Thank you Karen- I will be using these a lot!

Bulletin Board

I had this bulletin board in my kitchen- but never liked the chicken- it was painted a dull taupe, with yellow outlines of feathers- so I covered the background and chicken with paper and mod-podge- I like the results. and its a fresh look for my clean kitchen.

ABCSC11 card

Here is my letter B for Bible card for Patter's ABC scripture challenge.
The bee and scrub brush are from Graphics Fairy, the heart was stamped; I drew the eyes and soap.
Our pastor preached this text last Sunday- so it was fresh in my mind- the challenge locked it down a little tighter I hope.

VACATION!

I am officially on vacation! A whole week of no commute- no system issues- no claims questions- YAY.
The only paperwork I have to do is crafting- I started already with a bible verse challenge- except I selected a different A word- Abide. So now I will "have" to do another to post on http://triplethescraps.blogspot.com/
She is doing an ABC scripture challenge. As soon as the stickles dry on my Abide page I will scan and upload here.
