I rarely make anyhing for myself- but I wanted a knit triangle shawl- I found instructions to do a yarn over increase at Knit-Picky patterns and voila' I was able to knit a triangle shawl. The pattern was from Lion Brand yarns site. Its all garter stitch- I wore my shawl and it kept me warm all day at work.
Jeannehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15501980821211193163noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5994209501092955837.post-71415043409611491612011-10-23T12:39:00.000-07:002011-10-23T12:39:04.782-07:00Pumpkin PancakesI am so ready for Fall- we went to our favorite local Pumpkin Patch yesterday -Phillips Farms in Lodi, CA.
The grandkids had fun, Grandma had fun and we supported a local agribusiness.
This morning I wanted pumpkin pancakes- So I used a pancake mix, added a generous 1/4 cup of canned pumpkin and a shake of cinnamon and a pinch of cloves.

With a little syrup- yummy!

And since I opened the can of pumpkin I made a batch of fat free whole wheat pumpkin muffins. Yes, I had to do a taste test- also yummy!
I used a recipe found on Allrecipes.com, but I used applesauce instead of oil, and only a 1/2 C of splenda baking blend instead of 11/2 cups of sugar. They are sweet enough with the pumpkin and applesauce. Happy Fall y'all!Jeannehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15501980821211193163noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5994209501092955837.post-77653989762886777892011-10-16T10:25:00.000-07:002011-10-16T10:25:45.829-07:00October updateI've been on vacation this past week which explains how I had the time to make 15Halloween treat boxes. But we've also made arrangements to have our home insulated YAY! We contacted Ashlock Energy in Stockton- they came out and gave us an estimate that fits our budget and they'll be here next Wednesday to do the work. Just in time for cooler weather here in the Central Valley.Jeannehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15501980821211193163noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5994209501092955837.post-46384250255396094782011-10-13T11:10:00.000-07:002011-10-13T11:10:05.724-07:00Halloween Treat BoxesI just love Halloween; I know it has it's darker side. But dressing up and pretending and asking for treats- what more can a kid ask for?!
Here are treat boxes I made for my team at work 15 of them.
I used the Fry box template with various Halloween themed cardstock and decorated with images from Graphics Fairy, dover publishing and others. I used paper glaze for the charms on the fronts and crafters floss to hold them:
We were on vacation in Yerington NV and I needed something for evenings in the motel room- I don't like the casinos- too much smoke.
I found the knitting needles and cotton yarn at the Ace Hardware on Goldfield Ave. I pulled it out a couple of times because I knitted when I should have purled. But I finished it and here it is. <img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgBbeY5NZcj2nf1iafjnASIbKB2Lfm_4MH6iA3aN7mNv_cIFmXsP13wovO1MUfRAXmM9VALIvqwrfzHuJkBBxPycWdd9mSHU87eIjZASR_R1lLxgvjncAT9cb6vNXhQoU1zIIz7dWbjgp7I/s320/my+knitting+001.jpg" t$="true" width="320" />
Now I've started a simple sleeveless shell. Not sure how long that will take-Jeannehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15501980821211193163noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5994209501092955837.post-29774997941738797022011-07-04T10:49:00.000-07:002011-07-04T10:49:14.753-07:00Happy Independence Day!Hapopy Birthday America-
We're going to a barbecue later today, I'm bringing a side dish of zucchini corn salad.
I looked at a few recipes but came up with this tailored to my taste.
Jeanne's zucchini corn salad
4 small zucchini diced
1/2 sweet onion
1 red bell pepper
1 c sweet corn
salt
pepper
olive oil
21/2 T vinegar

<img border="0" height="240" i$="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiIUfy_EjLejFOfJXHxiOd-lcFT6ETeCqocw5RqqRPRehPsUxIRzlizwcVgMuNYlAXHrjD4G69jHF58BbCV7E0zgsjxewQJozGkUMoMyD5iGE9sZNivHIERrkk0Vj09sk7i_a-A0gIDm27i/s320/July4th2011+001.jpg" width="320" />
Fire roast the bell pepper and peel the skin after it cools. Dice and place in bowl. Dice the onion and caremelize in a little olive oil. Put in bowl with the red pepper. Cook the diced zucchini in the same pan, I did it in 2 batches so it browned well- and made sure it was dry before entering the pan. Place in bowl when done. Add the corn to the pan and cook for 1-2 minutes. pour into the bowl. Add salt and pepper to taste, pour in the vinegar, toss and chill.
Have a safe and sane 4th!Jeannehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15501980821211193163noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5994209501092955837.post-47258610317558124992011-07-02T08:02:00.000-07:002011-07-02T08:02:58.230-07:00Embellished T-shirt number 2I've been seeing the return of the white peasant skirt at work and wanted one too- we went to a discount store and found one for $9.99. Not a bad price so I bought one and a white t-shirt to go with it. The shirt was a little plain so I used an old white t-shirt and my cuttle bug to make this one.
