I rarely make anyhing for myself- but I wanted a knit triangle shawl- I found instructions to do a yarn over increase at Knit-Picky patterns and voila' I was able to knit a triangle shawl. The pattern was from Lion Brand yarns site. Its all garter stitch- I wore my shawl and it kept me warm all day at work.

Pumpkin Pancakes

I am so ready for Fall- we went to our favorite local Pumpkin Patch yesterday -Phillips Farms in Lodi, CA.
The grandkids had fun, Grandma had fun and we supported a local agribusiness.
This morning I wanted pumpkin pancakes- So I used a pancake mix, added a generous 1/4 cup of canned pumpkin and a shake of cinnamon and a pinch of cloves.
With a little syrup- yummy!
And since I opened the can of pumpkin I made a batch of fat free whole wheat pumpkin muffins. Yes, I had to do a taste test- also yummy!
I used a recipe found on Allrecipes.com, but I used applesauce instead of oil, and only a 1/2 C of splenda baking blend instead of 11/2 cups of sugar. They are sweet enough with the pumpkin and applesauce. Happy Fall y'all!

October update

I've been on vacation this past week which explains how I had the time to make 15Halloween treat boxes. But we've also made arrangements to have our home insulated YAY! We contacted Ashlock Energy in Stockton- they came out and gave us an estimate that fits our budget and they'll be here next Wednesday to do the work. Just in time for cooler weather here in the Central Valley.

Halloween Treat Boxes

I just love Halloween; I know it has it's darker side. But dressing up and pretending and asking for treats- what more can a kid ask for?!
Here are treat boxes I made for my team at work 15 of them.
I used the Fry box template with various Halloween themed cardstock and decorated with images from Graphics Fairy, dover publishing and others. I used paper glaze for the charms on the fronts and crafters floss to hold them:

I'll be filling the boxes with treats; I'm sure the team will enjoy them.

Cards

Wow- it's been a while since my last post. I have been making cards- just didn't take time to post them.
Well here they are -Birthday card for my sister- using a coffe ATC I recieved in a trade a couple years ago. The coffee cup flips up -too cute and my sis loves her coffee.

My bro in law likes orioles( so my sister told me) I found this pic on GraphicsFairy- as well as the nest. The record card is from Creative delights. Denim scrap is the ribbon and tie for the twigs.

Oranges courtesy of Graphics Fairy for my husbands Aunt- I used diamond glaze on the bowl- it doesn't show up here though.

A get well card for a co worker using the other halves of the orange papers. Did I say I LOVE orange?
I made a petal card but didn't get it scanned- I'll have to make another to scan. It was way cool.

My First Knitted Project

I started small on this one- a dishcloth about 10"x10" square.
We were on vacation in Yerington NV and I needed something for evenings in the motel room- I don't like the casinos- too much smoke.
I found the knitting needles and cotton yarn at the Ace Hardware on Goldfield Ave. I pulled it out a couple of times because I knitted when I should have purled. But I finished it and here it is.
Now I've started a simple sleeveless shell. Not sure how long that will take-
